| So I figured it out, I am an undeserving, selfish brat. I don't
think I deserved the christmas presents I got, and I take advantage of
what I have, not thinking about how good my family has it compared tosome other people.
I also complained for hours on end about going to New York for new years eve
(who does that?). it was an opportunity that I am glad my parents
forced me to take.
It wasn't the best, but it was fun. We left on Friday, mid-afternoon. I
was upset, because I didn't get to go to Megan's birthday thing. We got
there around 6ish, and spent at least a half an hour looking for a
parking spot. Finally we just parked in a garage (it cost us $62). That
night we went to eat at some little bar place that had really good
pizza, but in my mood at the time (grumpy) I only ate one piece.
The apartment was small. One bedroom, small kitchen, one bathroom, and
a small living room. There were seven people crammed into that
apartment (five of us stayed in the living room). Seven people,
and one bathroom. Not good.
Saturday morning I felt sick (headache) we went to this little diner a
few blocks away to eat. They had good burgers, even though the waiter
gave me an odd look (it was breakfast time) (the burger didn't help me
feel better, it gave me the permanent feeling that I was going to throw
up). It started snowing right before we left for the diner, and
it snowed for a while. It didn't really stick, but it was pretty. That
day we walked about 15 blocks to the subway station (because they
thought the one near them was closed, it wasn't) and took the subway to
a stop near the empire state building. It was tall. We paid
lots of money not to wait in the line and to see a movie thing, but it
made me almost throw up (it's one of those things where you move with
the movie). We rode an elevator to the 80somthing floor, waited in a
long line, then finally got to the top. I took some nice pictures, but
didn't look over the edge too much (I don't like heights). After
that our group split up and the guys went to see a one man show of the
three episodes(4,5,6) of starwars(off off Broadway), and the girls went
to macy's. First we got starbucks, and then waited in the bathroom line
for 20 minutes. Macy's was huge. April and I went on all nine floors,
making comments about each of them as we rode the escalators.
After that we went to a restaurant called Becco. Expensive (what isn't
in New York), but good. The guys met us there. After that we went back
to the apartment. My mom and I watched a movie on her laptop, and my
dad slept (I don't know what April and Ryan did). Ryan and my Dad
wanted to go to times square to watch the ball drop so they walked
there and left late, so they didn't get to see it. They met with us in
central park, and it was quiet where we were (only a few people) and
then this huge group of people on bicycles rode in. One guy had this
speaker system attached to the back, and started to blast music. They
started to drink and dance and smoke, and this one lady was going
crazy. She had a bottle in her hand, and she was screaming and
jumping around in circles and dancing, but then I noticed that her
bottle was actually sparkling cider. That lady looked crazyy. We
counted down from ten, watched a fireworks show, left, ran to catch the
bus, and then went home. Sunday morning, we went to china town.
The subway ride there was fun, because there was an
old/homeless/drunken/high guy on the train. He was yelling slurred
profanities and trying to start debates. It was pretty funny. My dad
said he would pay me a dollar to go start contradicting everything he
said, but my mom shot him a dirty look, and told me to stop listening
to my dad. We went to this restaurant called The Golden Unicorn for dim
sum (which is just a bunch of little dishes, snacks and such). My mom
called me hypocritical because I always talk about people not being
open minded enough to try new things (eating) and I wasn't eating
much. So I tried this dish that was zucchini stuffed with food
and steamed. It was tasteless and mushy, not good. After that, we
went walking down canal street, looking at the shops. We bought King
Kong, and my uncle got a movie that isn't even in theaters yet. My
sister got a cute bag, and learned the fine art of haggling. We went to
the Bodies exhibit after that. It was really interesting, I learned a
lot. I got to hold a brain, and a liver, and a section of lung that was
from a smoker, and a section from a non smoker (all real). There was a
sad part though, one little section of the exhibition was of babies,
all were once alive, but they were sitting in glass jars, it was
depressing. After that I was really hungry, so we went out for
mexican food, then we went back to the apartment, packed, and
came back home.
All in all, not the worst trip ever.
If you read all of that, you are crazy.
